Georgia Department of Labor. The Area is comprised of the following thirteen
counties:

    Hall ~ Hart ~ Lumpkin ~ Rabun ~ Stephens ~ Towns
    Union ~ White

Investment Act of
1998.
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 was the first major reform to
the education and training opportunities funded by the federal government in
over 15 years.  The funding provides education and training to eligible
individuals to enhance their current skills or learn a new trade.  Individuals
seeking assistance through the Georgia Mountains Workforce Investment Area
must be a resident in one of the aforementioned counties or is/was employed by
a company whose business is/was within the Georgia Mountains service area.
The Georgia Mountains Workforce Investment Board's local plan update has been
completed and is now available for review.  Copies of the plan are available by calling
(770) 538-2724.  Public comments will be accepted for 30 days.
