Assessments


    The ASSET Student Success System offered by postsecondary institutions is a testing and
    advising program used for placement purposes. The ASSET includes:

    Basic Skills Measures
    Writing Skills (25 minutes)
    Numerical Skills (25 minutes)
    Reading Skills (25 minutes)

    Advanced Mathematics Measures
    Elementary Algebra (25 minutes)
    Intermediate Algebra (25 minutes)
    College Algebra (25 minutes)
    Geometry (25 minutes)

    Customers wishing to enroll in postsecondary education will be required to complete this
    assessment prior to acceptance by the training provider.

    CDM (Career Decision Maker)
    Match the customers interests. This assessment is required by all customers.

    GCIS (Georgia Career Information System)
    The Georgia Career Information Center, through its Georgia Career Information System
    (GCIS), provides current and accurate occupational and educational information to schools
    and agencies throughout Georgia in order to help young people and adults make informed
    career choices.

    GMWIA requires all applicants complete the Skills Assessment on the GCIC website. Visit

    Applicants should print the report after completing the Skills Assessment and attach the
    report to the Comprehensive WIA Application.

    The Georgia Career Information System has many tools to help investigate careers and
    education opportunities. Feel free to use the user name/password above anytime to explore.
    Some of the topics you will find on GCIS are:

                    - real wage information for different jobs
                    - information on which jobs/careers are growing in our area
                    - find out how your strengths match certain occupations
                    - video interviews with people in many different professions

    Mavis Beacon
    A typing test will be required of all customers wishing to attend the training in the advanced
    clerical operations field of study.  

    O'Net
    The O'Net Assessment system is a comprehensive, self-directed career exploration/
    assessment tool to help customers consider and plan career options, preparation, and
    transitions more effectively. The assessment instruments include:

  • Ability Profiler
  • Interest Profiler
  • Computerized Interest Profiler
  • Work Importance Locator
  • Work Importance Profiler

    The assessments will help customers identify their work-related interests, what they consider
    important on the job and their abilities in order to explore those occupations that relate most
    closely to those attributes. The assessments are available to all customers, but not required.

    SAGE - if applicable
    The SAGE will assess hand, eye and foot coordination for those customers interested in
    obtaining a Commercial Drivers License.

    TABE
    The TABE will assess basic mathematic and reading ability. Required for customers wishing
    to obtain their commercial drivers license.
